This was supposed to be a joyful album that showcased several of my styles, new and old, and was a proving ground for new directions to work in.

Due to events outside of my control--which I think you can guess at if you are even the slightest bit observant--it didn't really turn out that way.

Is "She's A Kaleidoscope" my best album? No. But I am proud of it, and the suite that makes up the second half of the record is some of my favorite music I've made this year.

So this is, I don't know, an album about post-election stress? Fear-of-the-end-of-the-world stress? Sure, let's go with that.

It has what I might call a happy ending, if it had a narrative like that. In spite of everything, I remain an optimist, and despite the long, long drain this year has had on my soul, especially in its second half, I think we will carry on.

Turn your volume down a bit when you first turn the record on.

If you're considering buying the record, you may, but I'd urge you first to look into the many charities that need your help. Especially those protecting trans youth, since I am trans myself.

The Witch Of Appalachia is checking out for the year. See you in 2017, come hell or high water.
